ADVICE TO MY YOUNGER SELF
The last three years of my life have changed me drastically, and everything that happened impacted me deeply and made me become whatever wherever I am now!Of course I have no regrets! Everything was mine; the rights and the wrongs, just mine! I maybe don’t even want to relive it, because its guilt free, but, I wish I could have done some things differently- DEAR 17 YEARS OLD TANU…
Congratulations on graduating from high school. None of these grades will matter! I hope you made some memories and friends. You will remember this time as the most innocent, carefree and athletic time of your life with only homework being able to bother you!
The big life decision you want to make of leaving home - GO WITH YOUR INTUITION! It has never failed you before and it never will! Stop pretending that you can’t hear yourself and must look outside for advice! Nope not needed, not required!Your mind will always give you calculated answers, but go with your heart! It already knows what you want. But if you are still confused, keep searching and don’t settle. WHATEVER YOUR HEART SAYS JUST DO IT!
This is not the only good bye you are going to say! You will have many more; some by choice, some inevitably and some will depend on the other side. But because you love to travel, you’ll have an extra bunch! You will discover that as soon as you start staying alone and understand the difference between being alone and lonely.Don’t stop travelling!,don’t stop dancing because you will always find a way to do it! Honestly you are going to be great at it! Be thankful and appreciate it about yourself. We as people sometimes forget to do that, but do it as you’ll be inspired by you and will love yourself more.
You will change locations, homes and will often witness change of scenery out of your balcony periodically. This nomadic life will make you multicultural! Don’t be ashamed that you cannot speak your mother tongue very fluently, you will just know many! Cook a lot and often, different food, it’s a good habit! You will never starve and save a lot!
Your days at college becoming a physiotherapist will be insightful. You will discover the part of you which is readily available to help others and be empathetic to them, it’s a good quality! Spoiler alert - You’ll be in school for long, very long! …you will travel even for the Master’s degree, and love.
Get over the bullies from school because all that happened is going to make you tough, real badass! This badass will have moments, you will have your first heartbreak and you will think how life knocked you down and it’s all over! But trust me, there is a lot coming. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING! The ‘one sided’, the ‘did not work out’, the one where you get ‘cheated on’! All of it will happen! Remember, its ok to be heartbroken, but just do not waste the most important resource; Time! SO STAY FOCUSED! You will realize this once you will start getting paid hourly, when you move to LA.
Moving to LA will be the hardest good bye! Because by now you will have realized that mom always wanted your best and dad’s lecture was to protect you! Being away from them will make you realize the difference between being alone and lonely. This will happen because the one whom you called your best friend will not wish you on your birthday and close ones will have their busy mode on. You will know whom to cut cords with and for whom to take the effort of making time and still staying in touch.
Stop stressing so much about your career and money! Because you are educated and skilled enough to survive! Only drain all your energy to be happy. That’s how you live to the fullest.
